untitled6.JPG     Davao Oriental Province was created on July 1, 1967 under Republic Act 4867. It is located in the Easternmost part of Region 11. It is bounded by the Pacific Ocean in the East, Davao Province in the West, Agusan del Sur and Surigao del Sur in the North and Davao Gulf and Celebes Sea in the South. Which comprises 516,446 hectares representing 16.26 percent of the total land area of Region 11 to which the province belongs and 1.72 percent of the total area of the Philippines.


 

    Thus, the area of responsibility of Davao Oriental Police Provincial Office covers Ten (10) municipalities and One (1) Component City namely: BANAYBANAY, LUPON, SAN ISIDRO, GOVERNOR GENEROSO, TARRAGONA, MANAY, CARAGA, BAGANGA, CATEEL, BOSTON and CITY OF MATI as its capital. Among these municipalities, BAGANGA has the largest area with 117,708 hectares and SAN ISIDRO is the smallest area with 20,520 hectares. It has 183 barangays and a total population of 495,827 based on 2000 Census.. untitled7.JPG


     The Philippine Constabulary/Integrated National Police (PC/INP) Command was located at Poblacion Mati, Davao Oriental and it was under the leadership of MAJOR AUXENCIO A PEÑARANDA, PC. In 1976, it was then transferred at Brgy Dahican, Mati, Davao Oriental where at present occupies the same location. LTC ALFONSO M LOMIBAO was the Provincial Commander then during the time. The camp is more or less six (6) kilometers away from Poblacion Mati City, Davao Oriental.

     With the creation of Philippine National Police, under the auspice of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), Davao Oriental Police Provincial Office (DOPPO) continue its mandate in the protection of life and properties and ensuring public safety. It strengthen its tasks on crime prevention and protection for a conducive place of investment and development.

     On July 1, 1994, pursuant to GHQ Letter Directive dated 22 June 1994, re: Organization of PNP Provincial Command and Lower units/stations that comprise the Davao Oriental Police Command were renamed:

MISSION


     Davao Oriental PPO concurrent with its mandated tasks, duties, mission and functions, continue to uphold the constitutional process and remain focused on the mandate to maintain peace and order, ensure public safety and internal security, advocate the rule of law and to serve and protect the community with the active participation of Local Government Units (LGU), Government Organization (GO), Non Government Organization (NGO) and the general public as well.

VISION


     The Davao Oriental Police Provincial Office shall continue to maintain peace and order, enforce the law and ensure public safety in the province. It shall provide the atmosphere of peace security and help the Local Government on its quest on development and progress.

GOAL


     The Davao Oriental Police Provincial Office is duty bound to serve the greater interest of the people by enforcing the law and maintaining peace and order. It shall deliver the effective enforcement services to the people without fear or favor. Maintain operational readiness to thwart any attempts by threats group to provoke the disorder in the whole province.
